1 Timothy 4:8
For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
As I weighed myself this morning I thought of this verse. I’ve been trying to get into better shape for the two century rides I have in August, but has it been at the expense of my devotional time?
The other training verse I remember from our recent studies is 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
I guess in my mind I equate training in godliness and training in righteousness. So to do both we need to read scripture diligently. I guess I’ve been lacking in that area lately. I need to remind myself that physical training, while useful, will only have temporary significance.
