Philippians 4:12-13
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
This passage talks about being content in every situation. It’s quoted a lot when people are lacking, when they are living in want or are hungry. So it’s kind of weird that I’ve been thinking of this verse lately. I am not really lacking in any way. I’m lucky to have a job in this financial environment and of course everyone knows I’m not hungry, and there’s not really anything that I find myself wanting.
I guess the problem lies for me in how I do things. I tend to be a lone gunman, working alone most of the time. Being content though comes from Christ, in partnering with him in doing everything. That’s what I forget so often, and end up being unsatisfied. Our accomplishments really have no value unless they are done in partnership with Christ. Only then can we do things that please our Father in heaven.
